He leaves for work
Right before I get home.
It’s another night in the lab for him
And another night alone for me.
It’s like closing time at the bar.
I lock the door, I turn up that old world radio,
And I grab a cold drink,
Maybe think about something to eat.
I tried him at lunch from the office,
And I hope he’ll try me before bed.
I’ll sleep a bit easier, at least,
If I hear his voice sometime today.
And then I’ll see him in the morning.
As I’m just waking up,
He’ll be crawling under the sheets.
We’ll be getting our one chance
Before my work starts again.
Love you, Peet.
