Notes on Negativity

Sometimes, you wonder if you’re good enough for anyone or anything.

You feel like you aren’t doing any of it right. You believe everything about you is wrong. You doubt your skills and whether you had any to begin with. You wonder if you’re as smart as you think you are. You figure it’s all just been dumb luck.

You get inside your own head and convince yourself that you aren’t worth the time of day. Your thoughts are clouded; your interactions are tinged with the color gray. When they’re over, you feel that sensation creep up your spine and into the base of your skull, seeping into the back of your mind. You know that fear and sadness as they balloon and threaten to pop.

And they do. Sometimes.

But other times, you remember. And you make the same note you always have.

For every negative about you, there are many positives.

Negativity loses air, and positivity fills you up instead.
